In this week’s “Along the Way,” we head to Redmond, a community built around its salt mine. The natural sea salt of Real Salt is harvested underground in Redmond and remains unrefined and unprocessed with more than 60 trace minerals.
According to geologists, the Redmond salt deposit is the remnant of an ancient inland sea, probably part of the Sundance Sea, which places the deposit within the Jurassic Period. Whoa!
Above the mine, the miners let loose at an outdoor long shooting range and for some reason, these fine folks decided to make a bowling ball-shooting canyon too!
Finally, we wrap up at the Redmond Heritage Farm for some local dairy to round out our visit to lovely Sevier County.
