sloan canyon

Reece and Marianne Stein visit wild, primitive Sloan Canyon in the Mojave Desert of Las Vegas in this week’s “Where To.” With 300 rock art panels, wildlife like bighorn sheep and some challenging terrain, this moderate hike has a couple of options to explore.

You can scramble up the rock faces of the dry falls on Petroglyph Canyon Trail to see impressive petroglyphs at the top like these brave adventurers did or hit Cowboy Trail for a 4.5-mile round trip that avoids the scrambling.

On your way out, be sure to stop by the Seven Magic Mountains art sculpture, which features fluorescent limestone stacked 35 feet high. Definitely a selfie stop not to miss!
